So you’ve got your nice, new shiny site,
now how are the search engines going to find it?

The search engines like Google and Yahoo require some information about the site such as, what is it about, how is it set out in order to properly index your site when someone enters a search term that is relevant to your site and business.
This happens through a process of adding words, meta tags and other data which the search engines can read and which is commonly known as search engine optimisation.

Search engine optimization (SEO) - is the process of improving the visibility of a web site or a web page in search engines via the "natural" or un-paid "organic" or "algorithmic" search results.

SEO is one of the means by which your site will be discovered and indexed for inclusion in search results by the search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo.

The optimisation of a site is more than just placing keywords into the text on the pages that comprise the site. Consideration of SEO must take place throughout development of the website so that all elements of the site work towards the goal. Good SEO should be considered during the initial design stage of the process.

SEO of Existing Sites

If you have an existing website and the SEO is poor or perhaps even non-existent we can improve it for you. Give us a call or use the contact form and we will do a free site SEO survey and make recommendations on improvements that can be made.

If you wish to proceed we can either supply you with a detailed list of changes to make or we can do it for you.

Inclusion of Keywords and Phrases
At the start of the site design process we will discuss the possible keywords and phrases that may be typed into a search engine in order to find a site offering your services. Information is freely available from the search engines on search terms and we will research to find the best possible keywords and phrases for your site.

Search Engine Submission
Once the site has been designed and uploaded it needs to be submitted to the major search engines. Google, Bing and Yahoo are the major players amongst search engines and your site will be submitted to these and more. If your site fits into a particular niche it will also be submitted to relevant niche search engines.

Sitemap
A sitemap in both XML format for Google and url-list format for Yahoo will be produced and submitted to those search engines. Other types of sitemap can also be produced if required, including RSS1.0 and ROR RDF.

Robots Metatags & robots.txt File
The appropriate robots metatags will be applied to the pages of your site and if required a robots.txt file will be written to exclude any files or folders which you don’t wish to be indexed. Note: Some search robots will not obey the robots.txt file. We have no control over that.
